Project Costs

According to Michael Herring, the City Administrator for Chesterfield:

“The total cost of this project, from Highway 40/I-64 (St. Luke’s Hospital) north to the Maryland Heights Expressway, is estimated to cost approximately $170 million.

… St. Louis County has committed funding for a substantial portion of the total amount, with the balance coming from federal stimulus dollars. Construction is slated to begin in the Spring of 2010. We are extremely excited to have played a part in moving up the PRIORITY NATURE of this project, as original plans for our region noted that it was NOT scheduled be addressed until 2025, at the earliest!”

This quote comes from a letter dated May 4, 2009, in response to an inquiring resident, concerned about her home’s property value when the fresh air and quiet of the woods surrounding her neighborhood are replaced by the smog and noise of a six-lane elevated superhighway.

Of the $170 million to be spent, $70 million of it is intended to be spent on the two miles between Olive and Ladue near Woods Mill.
